Overview
Newzlio ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our Slack application.
What We Collect
When you install Newzlio, we collect the following information:
- Workspace ID: Your Slack workspace's unique identifier
- Team Name: Your organization's name in Slack
- Channel ID: The channel you select for receiving updates
- Bot Token: OAuth token for posting messages (encrypted at rest)
- Installer User ID: The Slack user who installed the app
- Engagement Data: Emoji reactions and thread replies on updates we post to your channel
- User IDs: Slack user IDs of people who react to or reply to our updates (for engagement analytics)
What We Don't Collect
We do not access or store:
- Message content from your channels (except thread replies to our updates)
- User profiles or personal information beyond user IDs
- Files shared in your workspace
- Private channels or direct messages (except DMs to our bot for help)
- Reactions or replies to messages that we didn't post
- Channel history or messages prior to our app posting an update
How We Use Your Data
We use the collected information solely to:
- Deliver AI workflow updates to your selected channel
- Track engagement (reactions and thread replies) on updates we post to measure content effectiveness
- Provide engagement analytics to show which updates resonate with your team
- Process slash commands (e.g.,
/newzlio settings) - Respond to help requests when you DM or mention the bot
- Maintain delivery logs for debugging (retained for 90 days)
Data Storage & Security
We take security seriously:
- Encryption: Bot tokens are encrypted using AES-256-GCM before storage
- Database: All data is stored in PostgreSQL with TLS encryption in transit
- Hosting: Our infrastructure uses SOC 2 compliant providers
- Access: Strict access controls limit who can access production data
Data Retention
Installation data is retained until you uninstall the app. Delivery logs (which track successful/failed message deliveries) are retained for 90 days for debugging purposes. Engagement data (reactions and thread replies) is retained to provide historical analytics and insights. Upon app uninstallation, all organization data, including engagement metrics, is automatically deleted.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We use error monitoring services (Sentry) which may receive anonymized error context, but never tokens or sensitive workspace information.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we store about your workspace
- Delete: Uninstall the app to automatically delete all data
- Manual Deletion: Contact us at support@newzlio.com for immediate data deletion
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
